This will be the first Summer Olympics to be held in the US since the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and the first since 1984 not to be held in a different city every four years. These games will also mark the return of golf and rugby sevens to the Summer Olympic program after their reintroduction at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In addition, baseball and softball will return to the program after being absent since 2008.
