Formula 1 is the highest class of single-seater auto racing sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and owned by the sport’s commercial rights holder, Liberty Media. The FIA Formula One World Championship has been one of the premier forms of racing around the world since its inaugural season in 1950. The word “formula” in the name refers to a set of rules to which all participants and cars must conform. A Formula One season consists of a series of races, known as Grands Prix (French for grand prizes or literally translated as great prizes), which take place worldwide on purpose-built F1 circuits and on public roads.

Caroline GHISLAINE-BETHENCOURT is a Belgian racing driver who competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Born in Liège, Belgium, on 4 March 1983, Ghislaine-Betancourt started her motorsport career in 2009 in the SEAT León Supercup Belgium, before moving to the SEAT León Eurocup in 2010. In 2012 she became the first woman to win a race in the SEAT León Eurocup, and also won the SEAT León Eurocup Scholarship. Ghislaine-Betancourt made her FIA World Endurance Championship debut in 2013, driving for Oak Racing. She has also raced in the 24 Hours of Spa and the 24 Hours of Dubai.

Premier League

The Premier League is the top level of the English football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the English Football League (EFL). The Premier League is a corporation in which the 20 member clubs act as shareholders. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 38 matches each (playing all 19 other teams both home and away). Most games are played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Champions League

Manchester United take on Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

The match is a repeat of the 2009 and 2011 final, which United won on both occasions, and Sir Alex Ferguson’s side will be hoping to take a step towards making it three in a row by coming out on top in this game.

Barcelona are the favourites to progress to the semi-finals, but United will be keen to make home advantage count and give themselves something to take to the Nou Camp for the second leg next week.

County Championship

The County Championship is a domestic first-class cricket competition in England and Wales. It is named after a former competition that ran from 1890 to 1999 and featured theCounty Championship, the Benson & Hedges Cup one-day tournament and, from 1972, the Sunday League. The new competition was launched in 2000 with 18 counties in two divisions; it was expanded to 36 teams in three divisions in 2017.
