The Jacksonville Jaguars have added another young, dynamic player to their roster. According to a report from the New York Times , the team is close to signing Tim Tebow, the former New York Jets and Denver Broncos quarterback with an impressive resume. The Jaguars will likely be his fifth NFL team, and his third in the last four years.

In what has to be the most unexpected report of the offseason, the Jacksonville Jaguars expect to sign Tim Tebow. If true, it would mark the third time the Jags have thought he could help them win. Unfortunately, all three of those teams have gone 0-16.

The Jacksonville Jaguars released Tim Tebow on Friday, ending his time with the team after the 2012 season. Tebow has been a polarizing figure in the NFL ever since he was drafted by the New York Jets in 2010, and his career has been plagued by inconsistency. But just because he was cut doesn’t mean that he is going to be completely forgotten.. Read more about jacksonville jaguars tim tebow and let us know what you think.

Whether you like it or not, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Tim Tebow era has begun.

Tebow — a former starting quarterback who now plays tight end — remained on the Jaguars’ 90-man roster over the summer and is now in training camp. According to a recent source, the former Heisman Trophy winner has a good chance of making the 53-man roster after proving himself throughout training camp and the preseason.

Tim Tebow is said to possess the three qualities that Urban Meyer seeks.

Whatever you think of Tebow’s arm power and accuracy, few have ever questioned his physicality. He was a dual-threat quarterback at the University of Florida and ran the ball for the Denver Broncos a decade ago, giving defenders fits.

Tebow’s physical attributes will help him continue his NFL comeback. He has the stature to play tight end at 6-foot-2 and 236 pounds, even if he spends most of his time blocking.

According to Charlie Campbell of, Tebow has a “legit shot” of making the team’s 53-man roster. According to Campbell, Tebow has three qualities that clubs want in special teams players: speed, tenacity, and instinct.

Football Outsiders employs a special teams rating statistic called STR, which takes into account kickoff, punt, field goal, and opponent field goal efficiency. Coach Urban Meyer, who coached Tebow at the University of Florida, has a history of fielding some of the best special teams groups in the country. In 2018, Ohio State finished fourth, Meyer’s last season before retiring and joining Fox Sports as a television commentator.

Tebow’s activities as a key special teams player were visible.

On one hand, Jaguars supporters may like the prospect of Trevor Lawrence delivering a game-winning touchdown pass to Tebow in Week 1. If that occurs, Twitter may finally break, so we’re all for the turmoil.

Tebow, on the other hand, has nothing against making the roster and mainly helping on special teams. Extra receivers and tight ends are often carried by NFL teams, with the overwhelming majority of their plays spent on kickoff coverage or blocking to set up a field goal.

It’s worth mentioning that Tebow has prior NFL special teams experience. He played 59 special teams plays with the New York Jets in 2012, so sprinting down the field on kickoff coverage or guarding the punter won’t be unfamiliar territory.

Outside of a couple of trick plays, we already know Tebow won’t be playing quarterback. The extent to which he contributes to the offense as a tight end will be decided by his growth and the development of rookie Luke Farrell, who played under Meyer at Ohio State. It makes sense to have him around if he can help on special teams.

We’ll leave it up to you to decide which sounds better: Tebow receiving the game-winning touchdown in Week 1 or Tebow recovering a fumble on a kick return and returning it for a touchdown.

Tebow is already leaving an indelible impression on Jaguars supporters.

There’s still a chance the Jaguars decide not to carry Tebow. It will be tough to justify retaining him if he appears totally outmatched in preseason games and other tight ends on the roster outperform him.

Despite this, the experiment as a whole is likely to be remembered. During a recent open practice, Jaguars fans shouted for Tebow. He grew up in the region and was a standout athlete at Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, which is 22 miles east of Jacksonville.

A hometown favorite and local icon has returned to play for the area’s NFL clubs, at least for a few weeks. That may be enough for some Jaguars supporters, particularly with Lawrence at quarterback.

Even if Tebow does not make the Jaguars’ 53-man roster, we may be proud that he has made it this far after six years away from professional football. But, if the football gods are kind, they’ll let us witness Lawrence and Tebow connect on a touchdown pass. Please?
