The Chiefs’ latest injury could spell trouble for Patrick Mahomes and strike another devastating blow to Kansas Citys playoff hopes. If the NFL season ended today, would you be able to tell me who is leading their division? How about if it was a team from the AFC South or NFC North? Can you name two of those teams that have no chance of reaching this year’s playoffs?

The “patrick mahomes concussion” is a significant injury that could spell trouble for the Chiefs’ playoff hopes.

Through nine games, the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2021 season hasn’t gone as planned. However, there is still time to make a difference. It won’t be easy, however, since the injuries are mounting. Patrick Mahomes hasn’t been spectacular so far, and his road to the playoffs has just become more harder.

The Chiefs’ offensive line has been dealt another setback.

The Chiefs’ lack of Lucas Niang and Mike Remmers is a major issue. Maxx Crosby and Yannick Ngakoue provide a strong edge rush for the Raiders. There will be a lot of chips and doubles.

The offensive line for the Kansas City Chiefs is currently injured.

During Kansas City’s Week 9 win against the Green Bay Packers, offensive lineman Lucas Niang sustained a rib injury in the first quarter. In 2021, the 2020 third-round pick has started seven games. Despite being benched in Week 5 of his first season, the TCU product has showed potential.

As if Niang’s injury wasn’t bad enough, Andy Reid’s team got more worse news. Mike Remmers, a veteran offensive lineman, has been put on injured reserve by the Chiefs.

Remmers had been out of practice for the previous week because of a nagging knee issue. Kansas City finally made the decision to end the project. The 32-year-old will now be out for many weeks.

The Chiefs will rely on fewer trustworthy alternatives to guard Patrick Mahomes now that Niang and Remmers are both out against the Raiders.

Against the Raiders, Patrick Mahomes must maintain his composure.

The pass rush of the Las Vegas Raiders is one of the best in the league. The Kansas City Chiefs will have their work cut out for them in preventing Maxx Crosby, Yannick Ngakoue, and the rest of the team from pursuing Patrick Mahomes.

Who will take the place of Lucas Niang and Mike Remmers?

Andrew Wylie will start at right tackle for Kansas City on Sunday Night Football, according to The Athletic.

The 27-year-old Eastern Michigan graduate had a bad game in Super Bowl LV, but he’s had a handful of good games since then. As a fill-in against the Packers, Wylie played 52 snaps. He just allowed two pressures.

Against Las Vegas, Patrick Mahomes will need Wylie to put in his greatest performance of his career. In nine games, opposing defenses have sacked the Chiefs’ superstar 17 times.

The offensive line must perform in order for Mahomes to be able to make spectacular passes to Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. For the Chiefs, inconsistent line play has been a problem that must be addressed soon.

The playoffs aren’t a given for Kansas City.

Andy Reid’s Chiefs are presently in third place in the AFC West with a 5-4 record. Over the last several years, Kansas City has dominated the division. The reigning two-time defending AFC champions, on the other hand, are in peril.

Patrick Mahomes and the offense haven’t been as dominating as in previous seasons. While the skill remains, opposition defenses have started to see certain patterns. In 2021, Mahomes has made an alarming quantity of reckless turnovers.

Through nine games, the former MVP has thrown 10 interceptions and fumbled five times. Mahomes’ troubles seem to be linked to the team’s struggles on the other side of the ball.

The Chiefs’ defense has never been shut down, but in past seasons they were at least opportunistic. However, Steve Spagnuolo’s unit has been liberal with chances.

The Chiefs’ total defense is ranked 27th in the NFL, allowing 25.2 points and 381.4 yards per game. Kansas City may find itself on the outside looking in if the defense does not improve.

The AFC West is wide open right now, but the Chiefs’ injury bug has struck at the worst possible moment.
