After edging past the Houston Rockets, the Lakers finally took a step in the right direction by ending their five-game losing run.

While Los Angeles shot 52.2 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from outside the arc in James’ first career start at center, he led the charge with his 102nd career triple-double. The Lakers had a balanced offensive effort, with five players scoring in double figures and four players scoring in double figures.

James’ outstanding performance in the much-needed victory thrust him back into the limelight behind yet another incredible effort.

Despite missing many games for the Lakers, LeBron James currently leads the NBA in a crazy statistic.

Despite just playing 23 games this season, LeBron James already leads the NBA in 30-point games.

On Thursday, he will turn 37 years old.

Despite being in his 19th season, James’ amazing triple-double performance on Tuesday night spoke volumes about his timeless potential.

The 36-year-old continues to prove that Father Time has yet to catch up with him. However, he has struggled with injuries, missing a total of 12 games. James has put his health concerns behind him and is now leading the league in 30-point outings with 13 in the 23 games he’s played.

He scored 30 points 11 times in his previous 15 games, becoming the only player above the age of 36 to do it. All other NBA players have combined for two such performances in their careers (Larry Bird and Kobe Bryant). James is also the first Lakers player to score at least 30 points in five consecutive games since Kobe Bryant in 2013.

The 17-time All-Star has completely embraced and succeeded with the increased offensive responsibility, averaging 27.6 points on 52.0 percent shooting from the field and 35.3 percent from beyond the arc. It’s a lot to expect of a guy who has been in the league for almost two decades, but he hasn’t faltered or lost his footing despite playing 37.1 minutes per game.

His performance exemplifies his all-time skill, which continues to defy all expectations for a player in his 19th season. James isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, something the Lakers will need in order to progress.

Around LeBron James, the Lakers need offensive balance.

As impressive as it is to watch James perform at such a high level in his 19th season, it just underscores the significance of his teammates’ contributions.

The 36-year-old will carry the majority of the weight, but the rest of the Lakers’ roster will have to take up the slack. Even though Los Angeles faced a youthful and inexperienced Rockets squad, the club’s collective offensive effort showed some positive indicators.

Russell Westbrook had a good game, scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists for his ninth triple-double of the season. A day after his play was criticized, Westbrook rebounded with a great effort. Los Angeles also need offensive balance, with five players scoring in double digits.

There won’t be many nights when the squad scores at such a high rate collectively. However, it is the team’s balanced effort that will keep James fresh throughout the season.

The Lakers have shown that they can do it; now it’s simply a question of doing so on a continuous basis.
