I’ve always believed the Bears made a big mistake in the 2018 draft when they selected quarterback Kyle Fuller over the far more talented and more NFL ready Kevin White. He would have been the better fit for the Bears and better player for the team in general, as he had better size, speed, and arm strength, and he would have helped the Bears win a Super Bowl sooner rather than later.
It doesn’t matter if the Bears have a quarterback controversy on their hands or not. This year’s version of the team may not look like the one that went 13-3 last year, but once the Bears moved to Mitch Trubisky, fans and experts alike were expecting a big season from the offense. Instead, the offense has been the worst in the league, leading to the Bears’ 3-10 record and an embarrassing 2-9 record in games that were once expected to be winnable.
The quarterback class of the 2018 draft was arguably the best in recent memory. The latter half of the first round—Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky—was full of potential franchise quarterbacks. However, the top of the draft is where the best value may be found, and is arguably the most important portion of the draft.. Read more about bears nfl and let us know what you think.
The biggest NFL story this offseason revolves around Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. But Green Bay’s NFC North rival has also had a pretty big story in recent months: Chicago Bears: should they pick Justin Fields or Andy Dalton as quarterback? The Bears have always maintained that Dalton will be the team’s starter because Fields, like most starting quarterbacks, needs time to grow. But based on their play so far, Fields and Dalton prove the Bears are making a colossal mistake.Chicago Bears have Andy Dalton and Justin Fields as quarterbacks

Dalton has proven to be a more than decent quarterback in his career, but he will never be elite. Dalton was a three-time Pro Bowl with the Cincinnati Bengals and even threw 33 touchdown passes in 2013. He also led Cincinnati to five consecutive playoff appearances in each of his first five NFL campaigns. However, after nine seasons with the Bengals, Dalton left for the Dallas Cowboys in 2020. Dalton, who filled in for Dak Prescott, who has been absent most of the year with an injury, totaled 2,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 11 games and nine starts. In the games he started, the Cowboys played four or five times. But after the Bears contracted Dalton, they also placed Fields, a former Ohio State quarterback, 11th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Fields has lost just two games as a starter for the Bucs, one in the semifinals of the College Football Playoffs and the other in the National Championship Game. In 22 games for OSU, Fields has scored 5,373 yards, 63 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also ran for 867 yards and 15 touchdowns. Fields’ play helped him finish third in the 2019 Heisman Trophy race and seventh in 2020. Fields’ selection immediately led people to wonder if the Bears should just take him instead of Dalton in 2021. Although the team has always said Dalton was the starter, Fields probably makes that decision a little harder.
Justin Fields shines on OTAs… while Andy Dalton struggles
The Bears held team activities this week, which meant both quarterbacks had a chance to prove themselves to head coach Matt Nagy and his staff. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Fields reported on the 9th. June a strong game, Biggs noted he had a few nimble passes and a good bomb. Darnell Mooney, who caught 61 passes for 631 yards and four touchdowns in his first year as a receiver for the Bears in 2020, also had high praise for Fields. That’s a nice ball, man. He knows where he’s going, and it’s very specific. … A great player and also a great person, Mooney said, according to Chris Emmaof 670 The Score. Mooney stated as well: When he threw me the very first ball, I smiled in the middle of the run-up, said Pro Football Focus. So, how did Dalton do? According to Biggs, Dalton threw three interceptions between the seven-on-seven games and the team game.
Chicago Bears make big mistake on quarterback
. As previously mentioned, Nagy and Bears general manager Ryan Pace have been pushing for Dalton to be the team’s starting quarterback all season. Andy is a starter, Nagy said in May, per NFL.com. Andy gets a fresh start. However, this could prove to be a big mistake. Even if you forget how Dalton struggled in the OTAs on the 9th. June was a tough month, it showed everyone their ceiling. He may win a few games, but he will never be a top quarterback or someone who can at least lead a team to the playoffs. The Bears, who went just 8-8 the past two years, need someone to do more than just lead the game. Fields proved at Ohio State that he has exactly the skills teams are looking for in quarterbacks these days. He has a huge arm, can make tight throws, and has the ability to scramble and run when needed. Fields was also very careful with the ball at Ohio State. In 2019, he threw for 41 touchdowns and only gave up three interceptions. Dalton has thrown 11 or more interceptions in seven of his 10 NFL seasons and threw 20 interceptions in 2013. He’s always been prone to turnovers, and that’s something no team wants to worry about. We all know Fields has the potential to be much better than Dalton. Now his play in practice seems to prove that the Bears are making a big mistake by choosing the former Bengals QB over him. It will be interesting to see if the Nags and Bears realize their mistake before it is too late. statistics courtesy of Sports Reference and Pro Football Reference. COMPARED TO: Justin Fields is Chicago’s future, but he and his Bears teammates may be leaving townThe Bears made a huge mistake in the first round of the draft, taking quarterback Georgia’s Justin Fields with their first pick. The Bears were lucky enough to land Field’s teammate Andy Dalton, but now, instead of having a franchise quarterback, they have a mediocre passer who will have to learn a new system on the fly. Perhaps that sets up the Bears for a similar situation to the one they faced last year, when they were left without a quarterback after the first round after Chicago’s pick of Mitchell Trubisky went bust..
