Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the most interesting human beings I’ve ever encountered. The average person has a lot more in common with the average superstar than they would like to think. From the moment I met Giannis, he was exactly the same person I knew from his YouTube videos. That is to say, he was celebrating. I mean, the man was shirtless, half-naked, and doing a victory lap around the court after scoring 25 points in a playoff game. I was standing near the Bucks’ bench and saw him jump and hug Thon Maker—a man who hasn’t played in the NBA since 2015—when he was announced as the NBA’s Most Improved Player. I witnessed Giannis’ enthusiasm
After the Bucks defeated the Cavaliers in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on June 8, Giannis Antetokounmpo celebrated his birthday by posting a video of himself playing with his dog, playing in the pool, and dancing around with DJ Khaled (“No Brainer”). He also posted a photo of himself with his family, where he can be seen wearing a customized jersey with the phrase, “Lust for life”, emblazoned on the back.
Sporting his new championship ring, Giannis Antetokounmpo made an appearance at the NBA Finals MVP press conference on Monday. He opened up about how the Bucks’ Game 7 win over the Celtics, in which he had 28 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, was more than just a basketball game. “I’m happy for the whole team, especially for the coach. I’m happy for everybody, but I’m especially happy for him because he’s been here for three years and he didn’t have a championship,” Antetokounmpo said. “I’m happy for everybody. I’m happy for my family, for my teammates. I’m happy for the whole organization.”. Read more about bucks nba and let us know what you think.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ NBA title is still fresh in Giannis Antetokounmpo’s mind.
Milwaukee rallied from a 2-0 hole in the finals to defeat the Phoenix Suns four times in a row to win the NBA championship for the first time in 50 years. At Fiserv Forum, the Greek Freak and his teammates rejoiced. They then held a parade to commemorate the occasion. Antetokounmpo has already returned to Greece with the Larry O’Brien Trophy and the Bill Russell Finals MVP Trophy.

The Bucks’ title was aided by Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday. Bobby Portis became a fan favorite as well. Milwaukee, on the other hand, won the championship thanks to their superstar. After averaging 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.2 steals in the series, Antetokounmpo added a finals MVP to his two regular-season MVP titles, according to NBA.com.
Antetokounmpo not only dominated the series statistically, but he also produced two of the most memorable plays in NBA finals history. He clinched a Game 4 win with one of the greatest defensive performances of all time, moving up to the free-throw line to hedge a Devin Booker drive and then making his way to the basket to block Deandre Ayton’s slam attempt on Booker’s lob. In the first place, Antetokounmpo forced a lob.
In Game 5, Holiday dribbled towards the front court after stealing the ball from Booker. Rather of slowing down and pulling the ball back out to save time, Holiday saw Antetokounmpo racing for the basket. The MVP motioned for a lob, which Holiday delivered, and the two collaborated for one of the most daring plays in finals history.
Oh, and he also had 50 points and 5 blocks in the championship game.
Antetokounmpo has returned to Greece, where he is still partying and holding his championship trophies.
The tiny boy from Greece who grew up as a hawker never forgets where he came from. He’s now returned to his homeland with the championship trophy as well as the finals MVP award.
Antetokounmpo, never one to be apart from his family, traveled to Greece with his brothers Kostas and Thanasis (both members of the Bucks championship team).
Antetokounmpo is entitled to celebrate as much as he wants, for as long as he wants.
When he first joined the NBA, the Greek Freak wasn’t a freak. Antetokounmpo joined the league as a 6-foot-9, 190-pound naïve adolescent, drafted at No. 15 as an unknown. He had no idea where Milwaukee was.
Do you recall when he first discovered smoothies?
He gained two inches in height, gained more than 50 pounds of muscle, improved his game (the Bucks’ coaching staff had to place a lock on the gym door because he wouldn’t stay out), and became a two-time MVP and now a champion via pure hard work and determination.
Antetokounmpo seems to be continuing his offseason partying. And he is deserving of every ounce of it.
