Sure, it’s a bit early to panic: Watson is still the Texans’ franchise player, after all, and Houston just signed him to a four-year, $84.5 million extension. However, the NFL’s annual draft class is one of the most important and impactful in franchise history, and the Texans aren’t in a position where they can afford a mistake. Watson is already one of the league’s most exciting young quarterbacks, but he has even more potential to reach his full potential.

Deshaun Watson’s stunning performance in his Texans debut against the Jaguars was supposed to be a sign of things to come. Instead, the Texans’ rookie quarterback faces an uphill climb in his first win. Watson and the Texans are still in search of their first victory, going 0-4 on the season. The Texans are now headed on the road to face the Patriots in Week 6, and the Patriots have certainly found their stride. The Patriots have won three in a row and four of their last five games, and they will look to continue to dominate the AFC East.

The Houston Texans have a really tough decision to make during the 2017 NFL Draft, but it has to be a good one. The Houston Texans’ Deshaun Watson and his offensive line are enjoying some success, and they’re getting healthy at a crucial time for the Texans. The Texans only had two key players on their offensive line, and both were lost for the season, but Deshaun Watson is experiencing some success. To make matters worse, Deshaun Watson’s opponent, the New England Patriots, have already made a big splash on draft weekend. The Patriots selected Alabama center Ryan Ramczyk with the 31st overall pick in the NFL draft. The Patriots traded that pick plus a third-round pick to the New Orleans Saints, who. The news that prosecutors have started a grand jury inquiry into Deshaun Watson shouldn’t come as a surprise. What’s more shocking is that it wasn’t the only event impacting the future of Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

That’s because the NFL’s commissioner’s office dropped a major hint about how the league would handle Watson’s pending disciplinary punishment.

Deshaun Watson’s future is uncertain.

Watson’s desire for a trade, as well as the civil lawsuit against him that may become criminal, have been playing out for the entire offseason. Watson came late last month at training camp but has yet to participate in any sessions.

According to reports, a grand jury is hearing evidence from the police investigation against Watson, who is the subject of ten criminal charges of sexual assault or misconduct, according to KRIV-TV in Houston. Prosecutors are reportedly seeking testimony from numerous accusers, according to Yahoo! Sports. The district attorney’s office declined to respond in a statement.

Separately, Watson is the subject of legal lawsuits brought by 22 female massage therapists accusing him of a range of actions, including forced oral sex. According to, NFL investigators have talked with ten of the accusers.

Watson’s ability to start the 2021 season with the Texans or any other club had previously been questioned due to the presence of numerous civil cases. The potential of criminal charges has always existed, and the appointment of a grand jury just adds to that likelihood.

Deshaun Watson and the Texans are dealing with some concerning news.

Derrius Guice was arrested for domestic abuse in August 2020, which led to his suspension. In June, criminal charges against him were dismissed, enabling NFL investigators to finish up their investigation into his personal behavior. The most recent example of league punishment for a player who was not found guilty.

Prosecutors in Virginia’s Loudoun County dismissed four misdemeanor charges against former Washington Football Team running back Derrius Guice after he struck a deal with the woman who accused him of assault and abuse in a domestic violence case, according to the Associated Press on June 23.

The deal that Guice’s former girlfriend approved was kept under wraps by prosecutors. Guice, who has been out of football since the WFT released him on Aug. 9, 2020, won’t face any prison time as a result of the deal, but he still doesn’t have a clear route back to the NFL. The NFL has banned Guice for six games to begin the 2021 season, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Guice’s name also appears in a number of sexual assault and harassment allegations dating back to his time at LSU, but he has not been prosecuted.

The similarities between Guice and Watson are obvious. Watson should be concerned by the fact that the former WFT player has been banned for six games despite having little chance of returning to the NFL. The action significantly reduces the value of trade for Texas.

The NFL has been criticized for its disciplinary procedures.

The NFL has been under increased scrutiny when it comes to punishing players due to a mix of its own rules, the disciplinary processes set out in collective bargaining agreements with the players’ union, and shifting public attitudes about misconduct.

The most recent major flashpoint occurred in 2014. Following an incident in an Atlantic City casino elevator on Feb. 15, that year, police arrested Ray Rice. The following month, he was charged with aggravated assault by a grand jury, and on July 25, the NFL issued a two-game ban. After agreeing to therapy, prosecutors dropped the criminal charges against Rice, but the Baltimore Ravens dismissed him before the start of the season.

Rice was suspended indefinitely by the NFL after a video surfaced on showing him pulling his comatose fiancée from an elevator. Rice, on the other hand, was successful in his appeal, arguing that the NFL could not penalize him twice for the same event.

Rice never played another down in the NFL, thus winning was a moot issue for him apart from recouping lost money. The sequence of incidents, on the other hand, forced Goodell to be more aggressive in future disciplinary measures.

Rodney Austin, a free agency guard, was banned for six games in September 2015, and Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was suspended for six games in 2017.

Watson is in danger as a result of the Guice development. If prosecutors pursue a criminal case against him, his anticipated ban may span seasons rather than weeks.
