The big three of Chris Bosh, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade recently met up with the new “superstars” in the NBA, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. The three all-stars were all part of the same team with the Miami Heat for a long time, until they decided to leave the team to play for other teams. Today, the three superstars are all different and all together in different cities, but they all agree that they would lose to the same team that they play for now, the Golden State Warriors. Bosh is saying that he thinks the team of Durant, James Harden, and Irving would beat the team of him, James, and Wade, so he feels like the team of Durant,
When the Miami Heat were the Big Three, they were legitimate NBA champions. But with their demise, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James were left with a legacy that was—at best—questionable. That’s why the three stars recently decided to stage an auction to determine the team’s new identity. The three stars have been forced to answer a series of questions about the Heat’s new direction, and the last question was an interesting one.
The Miami Heat have been the Miami Heat all season long, and Chris Bosh breaks the mold with a surprising comment about the “Big 3”. While he seems confident that Miami will make it to the NBA finals, he also admits that the trio of himself, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade would have to face off against the Golden State Warriors, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Boston Celtics, respectively.. Ask the vast majority of NBA players (even those who are already retired) who would win in a game between them or their team (or former team) and almost any opponent, and you’ll probably hear something along the lines of I would win or we would win, but it would be narrowly. But recently, future Hall of Fame member Chris Bosh chose a different path when asked about a fantasy matchup between the Miami Heat’s top three (him, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade) and the Brooklyn Nets’ current top three (Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden).Chris Bosh says he, LeBron James and Dwayne Wade would lose to Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden in a 3-on-3 game

In a recent interview with fubo Sports to promote his new book Letters to a Young Athlete, Bosch was asked who would win a 3-on-3 game between himself, LeBron and D-Wade (the premium version) and the Nets’ dynamic trio (KD, Harden and Irving). And without hesitation, he answered this:
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. I can score pretty well, and I go out there and participate, but they can do things I’ve never seen.
In a 3-on-3 match, it all depends on what can happen. These guys can just do all the jumps, you know, they’re great. All three can speak: It’s not fair.

Bosh said his game doesn’t really lend itself to this particular type of basketball, and wondered who he would keep in such a scenario, laughing when he said he certainly wouldn’t want to keep Durant.
So let’s get this straight.
What would this big Big Three game look like?

If it’s a 3-on-3 game between two Big 3 teams, Bosh is right when he says his team will have a hard time bringing in players. But these problems actually go both ways.
In this fantasy scenario, your likely opponents would be Bosh-Durant, Wade-Irving, and LeBron-Harden if we want to focus on growth. So, yes, Bosch is right when he says he wouldn’t do well with KD. But honestly, is there anyone on this planet who can match Durant? But Durant has never been a great defender, which means Bosh, who is still hovering around 18 points per game as the Heat’s third big three, will also get his points.
As for the matchup between LeBron and Harden, some think not. But people sometimes forget that LeBron was the best defender six times as a youngster (five times on the first team, once on the second), a distinction he earned in each of his four seasons with the Heat. Yeah, Harden’s a tough one to defend. But if anyone of the Heat’s big three can do it, it’s James, especially when this game comes at a time when the new rule is in effect that prohibits Harden from jumping on people. And Harden, who has no All-Defense wins, isn’t stopping LeBron from getting to the rim.
Which brings us to Wade v. Irving. Again, these are two great strikers who can score in a variety of ways. So again, it comes down to defense. And the advantage here goes to Wade, who has been the best defender three times in his career. Want to guess how many Irving has? Right, zero. Plus, Wade has a slight height advantage and was much stronger in his prime than Kyrie is now, so he can support Irving and score that way.
So, as Bosch said in his interview, it will be close. But if I had to pick a winner, I would pick Bosh, LeBron and D-Wade. In the end, in the most exciting game we’ve ever seen, Miami’s big three won.
Miami’s Big Three defeated Durant and Harden in the 2012 NBA Finals

Since it’s clear we’ll never see a real game between the Miami Big Three and the Brooklyn Big Three, the closest we’ll get is the 2012 NBA Finals matchup between the Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder featuring Durant and Harden.
Clearly, the version of Harden we know now was not the version we know now, as he was still coming off the bench at this point in his career. Durant has certainly gotten better too, though he was already a machine, averaging 30.6 points per game during the series. The Heat’s big three simply had more experience at that point and easily won the series in five games.
I do want to add that another member of the Thunder’s Big Three at the time, Russell Westbrook, would open up a whole new controversy regarding the important 3-on-3 matchup, as he too is clearly a better player than he was then. And to be honest, I would take it any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
But we’ll leave that for another day.
