The UFC returns to Houston, Texas in what should be an exciting night of fights. In the main event, you’ve got the Korean Zombie making his return after a two-year layoff against the always dangerous (#9)Dennis Bermudez in what should be a highly entertaining fight. The co-main event features two female fighters: (#12)Alexa Grasso takes on Felice Herrig in a fight between two fighters on different career paths. Grasso is supposed to be the next star in the UFC and along with Yair Rodriguez, the fighter to help bring importance to the UFC in Mexico. On the other hand, you’ve got Felice Herrig who is one of the OG’s of Women’s MMA and will look to derail the Grasso hype train. Rounding out the main card, you’ve got Abel Trujillo-James Vick, (#6)Ovince Saint Preux-Volkan Oezdemir, Anthony Hamilton-Marcel Fortuna, (#5)Jessica Andrade-Angela Hill. Also, on the prelims, UFC women’s strawweight (#6)Tecia Torres takes on the always rowdy Bec Rawlings.

(#9)Dennis “The Menace” Bermudez vs Chan “Korean Zombie” Sung Jung

Justin “Meanie” Szabo: Korean Zombie via 4th round TKO

Analysis: Unlike some other people making picks here (cough Richie B, cough), I am man enough (and probably stupid enough) to pick the man coming off a three and a half year layoff. Korean Zombie is a killer! Seems like there is a large concern over ring rust for KZ, I don’t believe in ring rust. Dominic Cruz turned ring rust in a mental crutch for losers to get over their shortcomings.

Richard “Richie B” Bowman: Bermudez via majority decision

Analysis: I really wanted to go with the Korean Zombie in this one, however, the two-year layoff combined with the fact Bermudez can grind things out makes me favor Bermudez in this one. One key to look for is that this is a five round fight and while Bermudez is a wrestler, he does at times play with fire, which could swing things in the favor of the Korean Zombie who would love nothing more than for Bermudez to not fight in a controlled manner. Look for Bermudez to win the first two rounds but then the Korean Zombie will make things interesting towards the end of the 3rd and then in the championship rounds, however, ultimately coming up short in a close decision with ring rust playing a factor.

Masked Man: Bermudez via 3rd round TKO

Analysis: Both of these guys are two of my favorite featherweights and their styles are completely different which should make for an entertaining fight. Korean Zombie is lethal on his feet but is known to take punishment to dish it out. Bermudez is one of the toughest guys in the division and I see him outlasting KZ on the feet and grinding him out on the ground and finally finishing him in the third. Three and a half years is a long time away from the octagon and will play a big role in this happening (KZ will look a little different in his first fight back).
