This Saturday is UFC 209 in what figures to not only be the one of the best MMA in 2017 but also could end up being one of the most exciting events when the year is done. The main event features a rematch from UFC 200 as the UFC Welterweight Champion (c)Tyron Woodley battles Wonderboy (#1)Stephen Thompson once again as both men hope they can come out victorious.

UFC 209 also features many great match-ups and name fighters as former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans makes his return against Australia’s very own Daniel Kelly. Also, on the main card, groovy Lando Vannata will look to build off his highlight reel KO back in December when he takes on David Teymur in what should be an exciting fight. Kicking off the main card will be a clash between two of the most decorated strikers in UFC history as (#3)Alistair Overeem takes on Super Samoan (#8)Mark Hunt.

UFC Welterweight Title Fight

(c)Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley vs (#1)Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson

Justin “Meanie” Szabo: Woodley via 3 round TKO

Analysis: Woodley found much success early in the first matchup in the wrestling game. He recognized that. If he truly commits to the wrestling game he could just hold Thompson down and win that way. But Woodley also can knock you out fairly easily so he’s pretty well rounded, to say the least. He can win in multiple ways

Richard “Richie B” Bowman: Thompson via majority decision

Analysis: This is one of the toughest fights to call because of Thompson’s style of fighting, despite being a highly decorated striker, he does tend to play with fire by leaving himself vulnerable, which almost cost him in the first fight. One reason I like Thompson in this fight is the fact that he’s still evolving, this isn’t to knock Woodley but with Woodley you already know what you’re going to get, his game is very much the same as it was when he first joined the UFC, he’s just a more experienced fighter now. This should be a fairly close fight but look for Thompson to do enough late to take the decision.

Masked Man: Woodley via 1st round KO

Analysis: The rematch is here and it’s taking on a bigger role with the cancellation of the co main event. I don’t have any worries that Thompson and Woodley will be able to keep the card together and put on another great fight. The first go around was about Thompson’s technical striking vs Woodley’s power. We saw both guys put together their strengths to perfection and I expect nothing less this time around. Thompson will not be able to let Woodley get inside again who is coming into his third straight title fight as an underdog. He will silence his critics and land a devastating punch that’s Thompson will not be able to survive this time around. It will appear Thompson is controlling the fight from the get go but Woodley is waiting for his moment to strike and it will be his night.
