Round #21 of the Barclays Premier League highlighted some great action on Saturday, and Sunday added to that theme.

Two huge top-seven clash took place on Sunday as Everton hosted Manchester City in the early match, while Manchester United hosted Liverpool in the afternoon match.

Each side was looking for a win to continue their climb up the league table. Here is a recap of the final two matches of Round #21, with video highlights of each in the respective score-line.

Everton 4 — Manchester City 0
Pep Guardiola suffered his worst league defeat of his managerial career as Everton thumped Man City at Goodison Park. Romelu Lukaku slotted home 34 minutes in as Everton took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. Kevin Mirallas rifled home a second goal for Everton two minutes into the second half. 18 year-old Tom Davies chipped home a third late in the second half, but new signing Ademola Lookman rifled home a stoppage-time insurance goal on his Everton debut. Manchester City forced five saves from Everton keeper Joel Robles but were caught out a few times defensively which has been a huge concern this season. Despite 73% possession, Manchester City remain in fifth and see their title hopes quickly vanishing. A huge win for Everton keep them in seventh.

Manchester United 1 — Liverpool 1
In a mouth-watering clash in two of England’s biggest rivals at Old Trafford, the teams shared the spoils. James Milner put Jurgen Klopp‘s in-front from the penalty spot after 27 minutes. The wing-back’s sixth goal was decided after Paul Pogba was whistled for hand-ball inside the box. United fought back late to equalize as “Premier League Player of the Month”, Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed home with seven minutes to go. However, 1-1 would be the final score at the Theater of Dreams. Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet was huge for the visitors making two saves from close range. David de Gea made three saves for United.  Manchester United remain sixth, now two points behind their city rivals, while Liverpool drop to third, now seven points behind leaders Chelsea.

In the top six, important wins for Chelsea, Tottenham, and Arsenal help their cause in the title race. Manchester City have work to do with a huge match vs. Tottenham happening next Saturday at the Etihad.

Wins for Everton, Stoke City, and Burnley have these three sides in the top-half and looking to continue up the table. A dominant with for West Ham have them creeping further away from the relegation zone.

Poor results for Swansea City and Sunderland keep those two in the relegation zone, while Hull City‘s impressive win over Bournemouth move them closer to safety. Crystal Palace and Leicester City have work to do if they want to avoid a relegation fight during the second half of the season.
